Xavier Henry: Could he be a fit for the Raptors?

6 June 2010 One Comment

Xavier Henry: Henry worked out against Paul George, and much like other shooting guards may drop in the draft despite being a better talent than many of the bigs drafted before him. Henry looked like a lottery lock early in the NCAA season, but after Aldrich and Collins took over Henry’s stock took a dip and his shot stopped falling. Scouts question if Henry is a little bit too one-dimensional and may be best employed as a spot-up 3 point shooter on a team with an excellent inside game.

How he’d fit with the Raptors: On skill set, he fits with the Raptors modus operandi, but our MO has gotten us anywhere lately. The last thing the Raptors need is another spot up shooter, but Henry has also displayed the ability to be a strong finisher when attacking the basket. He plays the shooting guard position, but with Turkoglu having one foot out the door, DeMar DeRozan can be slid over to the 3 if needed. Henry was a consensus top 5 pick early this year, so the talent is there and he much like George will outplay many of the bigs drafted in front of him on draft night.

Raptors Digest thoughts: Henry will be an excellent fit and if he is deemed the best player available, should be someone whose name we call on draft night. Jack, Henry and DeRozan will give us the best 1-3 we have had in quite some time and may propel the Raptors back into the playoff picture with or without Bosh. Henry would be an ideal fit if Bosh chooses to stay.
