Which Raptors Bench Player has the chance to make the biggest impact this season??
The answer to this question really depends on injuries to key starters. As it stands right now the bench players in line for the most minutes appear to be backup Point Guard Jarrett Jack and backup swingman Antoine Wright.
With that said Jarrett Jack has the best chance of breaking into the starting lineup as a permanent fixture. Jarrett Jack usurped former Raptor T.J Ford while playing for the Indiana Pacers last season. Jarrett Jack has the requisite toughness and D that we do not get from Jose Calderon and is ready to make a serious case to be Toronto’s starter. However we do not feel that there will be much of a difference in Jack’s production as a starter or bench player providing that Jose is healthy. Jack is prognosticated to average 12 ppg, 4 apg, and 3.5 rpg.
Jack averaged roughly 17 ppg, 5 apg and 4 rpg after the All-Star break last season and is poised for some big numbers should Jose be hobbled by injury.
Antoine Wright on the other hand was a starter for 56 games for the Mavericks and may by many accounts open the season as the Raptors starting Shooting Guard with DeMar DeRozan coming off the bench. While he may start, as a starter he will not be relied upon for scoring the same way he will coming off the bench.
