Raptors claw back to .500, up two games on Bulls (Highlights)
The Raptors have clawed their way back to respectability, and are once again a .500 ball club.
Sonny Weems was the hero Wednesday night as he went a perfect 8 for 8 from the field and solidified his hold on the starting 2 guard job; not bad for someone who most fans thought was a throw in, and whom next to one was excited about his arrival in Toronto. I was always a fan as he is a former NCAA Slam Dunk Champion, but I never expected a perfect game from the field or for him to crack the starting line-up.
“You never get used to that because you can be pulled out pretty fast. I am just glad that I am getting the opportunity to play and show my talent.” – Sonny Weems on being in starting lineup
“Sonny was a guy earlier this year that was going to maybe be a role player on this team, but the kid comes back every single night and works on his jump shot…” – Jay Triano on Weems’ emergence.
Sonny Weems also added 5 rebounds and 4 assists, and the wisdom of playing and starting DeRozan when we were struggling is going to be questioned for a long time. Sorry, Triano, you do not have alot of fans in Raptors nation.
Chris Bosh, was once again the franchise and added 34 points and 11 rebounds and 3 blocks. Andrea Bargnani added 21 points, 8 rebounds and 3 blocks, which sounds like quite the game until you consider he took more shots than Bosh, and that he took 19 shots and only had 21 points.
The Raptors were red-hot from the field once again and shot a whopping .610 from the field, which is a season high. Another interesting tidbit…..Colangelo……the Raptors are 21-1 when holding teams under 100 points.
