Latest Bosh Rumour: Bosh to OKC

The latest Bosh rumour has Bosh going to the Thunder for Jeff Green, two 1st round picks and Serge Ibaka and/or D.J White.

I am not sure what to think of this one, as, as expressed in the Oklahoman this latest rumour is pure speculation, but the fact that it was covered on NBA.com and ESPN Insider made it seem worth covering.

This latest rumour, is just that a rumour.   But if BC were to consider this trade I would be in the ‘decline boat’ as the two first rounders and going to be out of the lottery (the other first rounder is from Phoenix which the Thunder acquired in the Kurt Thomas trade; the other is theirs, but with Bosh they will make playoffs).

Jeff Green is quite an interesting prospect, and in the right situation can be a 18 ppg scorer or higher. He is playing out of position for the Thunder at as he is more of a SF. The Thunder know they cannot afford to keep a core of Durant (max contract extension this summer or next), Westbrook, Harden and Green together beyond their current contracts, and Green, whose contract expires at the same time as KD’s is the most likely to go.

I say good for the Thunder for getting some value and the chance to make a legitimate playoff push with Bosh, Durant, Westbrook and Harden.

The main reason this scenario may not play out is due to the fact that the Thunder would be fearful of only ‘renting’ Bosh for their playoff run if he doesn’t agree to resign and potentially giving up two solid pieces in their first round picks that they could have used to build for 2010-2011 and beyond. To that I only have to say the excitement of playing with young superstars like KD and Westbrook would be too intoxicating for Bosh to leave. Add to that, the fact that they would be the team in the position to offer him the largest contract and thus also be a player in sign-and-trade scenarios, and this is a deal Presti should be in Toronto to offer personally.

KD is a top 4 player in the NBA (well arguably anyways) and there is next to no way Bosh leaves KD AND Westbrook. But GM Sam Presti isn’t likely to be of the same thinking as this writer.

One way I can see this deal actually enticing the Raptors is if BC had a lottery trading partner who would agree to trade their top 5 lottery pick for our two 1st rounders acquired via the Bosh trade. A lottery pick and Green is a good deal, and one BC would strongly consider.
