James Johnson Explodes; Alters Raptors Draft Strategy

24 April 2012 One Comment

James Johnson exploded Monday night for his best game of the season. He finished the contest with a whopping 22 points, 13 rebounds, 2 blocks, 1 steal and 4 assists.

The 13 rebounds are a career high and the 22 points were one off of his career high.

Yes, the Raptors still lost but James Johnson once again flashed his immense potential when many Raptors fans minds are already on the 2012 NBA draft.

Many fans would agree that as it stands right now that Harrison Barnes should be our draft choice if available because he plays the biggest area of need at small forward.

However with Johnson once again reminding us why the Raptors liked him in 2009 and the fantasy basketball community is enamoured with him, the Raptors may be wise to revisit their potential draft strategy in order to select the best player available regardless of position.

Although we maddeningly managed to win as many games in a 66 game season as we did last year in an 82 game season, we do not have a talented enough team or individual to rule out any player just because of the position he plays.

Hopefully this eruption from James Johnson has proven that to the Bryan Colangelo and Ed Stefanski.
