Has Andrea Bargnani played at an All-Star Level?

20 January 2012 3 Comments
In short, offensively, the answer is a resounding yes.

Andrea Bargnani has seemingly made big strides as the number one option for the Toronto Raptors this season and is averaging a career high in both points and, and perhaps more importantly, field goal percentage.

Andrea has managed to get to the free throw line more times per game than he ever has in his career and the most eye-popping statistic to note is that he is doing all this while having the worst three-point shooting season of his career.

Bargnani has responded to Dwane Casey’s pleas to be more aggressive and it has showed on both ends of the floor as he has managed to put up averages of 23.5 points per game and 6.5 rebounds per game.

Our readers will know that I am not Andrea’s biggest fan, but the signs early in the season have been nothing but encouraging from the six year vet from Rome.

Food for thought: If Andrea took 25 shots per game like Kobe, would he average more than 28 points per game?

Just because someone is a poor judge of talent doesnt mean that the talent wasnt there all along for others to see, if you catch my drifty drift.

    Hey Dan,

I feel you, however I have serious reservations about whether or not he will actually be named to the squad with the Raptors being such a poor team

and he has never played at this high of a level to actually be considered an all-star

If not for the calf injuries he might have had a chance

Now with another top-10 pick in what is expected to be a loaded draft he may never make the ASG as a Raptor
