Dalembert for Nocioni, Hawes

17 June 2010 9 Comments

According to ESPN, The Kings have struck gold and have been able to unload Andres Nocioni`s ugly contract for the expiring contract of a player they have reportedly coveted for years in Haitian-Canadian Samuel Dalembert. They had to include sweet shooting big man Spencer Hawes in the deal, but he was not in their future plans with Jason Thompson and Carl Landry both proving to be better talents. The Kings pick up a true center with All-NBA shot blocking ability and now have their draft board wide open after zeroing in on a center before the deal.

The 76ers pick up a 7`0 center in Spencer Hawes, who is a big who will be able to stretch the floor due to his range, and they also get consummate glue guy Andres Nocioni, whose 3 point touch will be a welcome addition to the team. Hawes and Nocioni can both stretch the floor and they both have shooting range that extends all the way to the three point line, so they should be key pieces of the bench for the 76ers who expect to make a playoff push.

Winner: Kings, I am not too sure why the 76ers agreed to this one. Maybe they just needed to get Young back at the 4 and Iggy at the 3 so they could draft Turner at the 2. They of course had purely financial motivations for this deal as they are now under the luxury tax, and according to Chris Mannix of SI, Sammy D was poisoning the locker room.

  • Good deal for Philly. Get under the luxury tax, add front court depth and rid themselves of Sammy D, who was poisoning locker room.less than a minute ago via web

  • Raptors spin:

Well there goes one of our potential trading partners for Turkoglu. Its probably for the better as we probably would have been better off trying to salvage some of Hedo`s trade value before we gave him up for a pittance in Andres Nocioni.
