Cole Aldrich, Devin Ebanks will return for 2nd workout

22 June 2010 2 Comments

Raptors.com reports that prospects Cole Aldrich and Devin Ebanks will be at the ACC Tuesday for a second workout.

If Cole Aldrich is still on the board at #13, and it is becoming increasingly likely that he may be, the Raptors may be forced into calling his name.

He may be simply too good to pass up if he slips all the way to #13 as he is a top-10 talent.

Aldrich is a what you see is what you get prospect but what we see right now is a solid if unspectacular NBA center. He only stands 6’9 but will be ready to contribute to an NBA squad right away and provide above average defense at the center position. His game has been compared favorably to that of Joel Pryzbilla but with more of an offensive game.

The Raptors were set on drafting a point guard such as Avery Bradley or Eric Bledsoe, but with Cole Aldrich rumoured to be slipping in the draft due to his limited upside the Raptors want to be sure, do their due dilligence and have no second guesses when they make their selection this Thursday.

Devin Ebanks also returns to the ACC for a second workout and is likely one of the Raptors top targets if they are able to acquire an additional first round pick.

Ebanks would provide solid defense at the 3 and would also provide plus rebounding. Ebanks projects as a Corey Brewer type player who could be that requisite glue guy every contender needs.

I am not overly excited about a possible Cole Aldrich pick, but drafting an NBA ready center may go along way in helping convince Bosh to stay in Toronto.  Ebanks on the other hand is precisely the type of player hard-nosed defensive players that Raptors need to add to their roster. Whether or not he gets his name called depends on whether or not the Raptors pick up an additional pick, and also what we do with pick #13.
