No need to panic Raptor fans, Bryan Colangelo himself shot down this rumour and reiterated that he wants to keep Bosh in a Raptor uniform for years to come. This rumour was first printed in the New York Post and than covered by ESPN Insider.
These are Bryan Colangelo’s statements in repsonse to a request from the New York post for more information on these rumours.
“For the record, I am not actively seeking a deal or discussing Bosh with any team, much less the Lakers.
“I haven’t traded him yet and our position has been the same. We will not make a deal just to make a deal. Our intention is to keep him here long term.
“Additionally, I have not yet offered an extension as Dwyane Wade and LeBron James both received [from their respective teams]. So technically he has not said no.
“I honestly don’t think C.B. knows what the future holds, or what he wants to do, so I would say we’re still in the game as far as his pending free agency.”

We here at Raptors Digest do not particularly like this trade, but as the New York Post writer suggests, if BC deems that, like is widely believed that Bosh will be leaving Toronto this summer he may wish to ensure himself compensation; and if that is his goal, Andrew Bynum is not a bad place to start.
Bynum is nowhere near the talent Chris Bosh is, but he is a very good player who is still developing. Bynum has a high ceiling, so we could do worse, alot worse. Trading for someone like Bynum, would also, by some accounts, allow the Raptors to continue on their quest to make the playoffs this season as the scoring slack could be picked up by other players on the team, most notably Hedo Turkoglu.
Despite the fact that this is one of the better deals we have heard bandied around the Internet, we also feel that keeping Bosh and seeing how the season plays out is critical. There is no guarantee Bosh will stay, but a sign-and-trade like BC always says, is Bosh’s best choice to make if he chooses to sign with another team. An extra year and increased raises are enough to convince Bryan Colangelo, and it should convince you too.
What do you think Raptor fans?? Should we be exploring pre-trade deadline deals for Bosh?? Should we trade him now to ensure compensation?? We’d love to hear your comments!!
