The dilemma when drafting Andrea Bargnani is having to ask yourself which Andrea “Il Mago” Bargnani you will be getting.
Will it be the one who showed up during the 07-08 season???
Or the one who dazzled in the second half of the 08-09 season??
While the 07-08 is certainly rosterable, he certainly wouldn’t deserve a whole fantasy piece devoted to him.

The 08-09 version is someone you will want to look at around pick 49-50 or as your 2nd C. Still the problem with drafting Andrea as your 2nd C is that he does not provide big man numbers except for his improving shot blocking. He will give you a wing players scoring and three pointers, a big man’s block numbers and a good rebounding SG’s rebound numbers.

Some would argue that his production does not justify him being your 2nd C, and we agree, but we are telling you where he is going in mock drafts.

We like Andrea more as a Utility player who can contribute across the board, now while he is not a hustle category provider, his C eligibility is what makes him valuable and a higher pick than he would be if he only qualified as a PF.

What can we expect from Andrea this season??

17 ppg, 5.5 rpg, 1.7 bpg, .8 spg, 2 3ptm, 450% fg% , 420 3pt%, 810 ft%

Is this realistic??

Andrea averaged 18.9 and 6 as the starting C last year (he started 44 games at C) and averaged 19.4 ppg, 1.7 bpg, 5.4 rpg and 493 fg% after the All-Star break. He topped out at 20.3 ppg in March and 7.1 rpg in February and also saw 2.5 bpg over 6 April games. So asking us if our projections are realistic isn’t the right question. You should be asking “Are we being too conservative??”
